Music

'It has .. been proven that music plays a key role in brain development. This is because it helps with the nurturing of language, motor skills, emotional intelligence and collaboration skills.' Gov UK.

Our Music curriculum – delivered by Junior Jam – gives our children opportunities to think and act creatively, to express their emotions, to work collaboratively and to develop problem-solving skills that can be used in all areas of their learning and support the development of our 'Superskills'.

During their journey through school, children will learn and develop 3 core music skills - singing, songwriting and music theory. Their knowledge and expertise in these key areas will build year on year. In addition, they will learn the basics of a variety of different musical instruments eg Djembe (African drums) and steel pans ensuring they have an exciting, balanced musical curriculum.

Music is taught each week to Years 1-6 by our Junior Jam specialist music teacher, Mr Davies.

We also offer instrumental lessons through Rock Steady.
