Young School Leaders
At the beginning of Year 6, all the children who want to be part of the YSL team prepare speeches to justify why they should be elected to the positions of Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Headboy and Deputy Headgirl. The teachers and children from Key Stage 2 listen with great interest to the children's detailed and persuasive arguments.
KS2 children offer their point of view, to the staff, on who has spoken most eloquently and persuasively before the staff get together to make the final decision on who should be appointed.
Throughout the year the Young School Leaders are tasked with a variety of jobs and regularly meet with the Headteacher to share ideas about how to improve the school.
Their responsibilities include welcoming visitors to our school, a task which the children really enjoy.
The children have a small budget to manage, aimed to increase their financial understanding. They choose how to spend this money to support their ideas over the year.
